Pregnancy Acupuncture

Acupuncture may assist women with a variety of pregnancy related issues and symptoms. Regular Acupuncture from 36 weeks of conception may also help with ease of labour. Acupuncture is Evidence Based - check out the following research articles click here.

    Morning Sickness

    Regular Acupuncture may be used to assist in ameliorating morning sickness symptoms. In severe cases Acupuncture may be recommended a few times a week.

    Labour Preparation

    We recommend that you start weekly Acupuncture treatments from 36 weeks of conception, to assist with labour preparation. Acupuncture points are chosen to ripen and soften the cervix, and also to help the baby to descend into the pelvis. Acupuncture will naturally relax your nervous system and help you to optimise your body and its functioning.

    Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD)

    Also colloquially termed “lightning crotch”, SPD is a painful musculoskeletal condition commonly experienced in the later stages of pregnancy. Acupuncture may help in reducing discomfort and alleviating pain.

    Breech positioning and posterior babies

    We recommend women come for Acupuncture from 35 weeks. Regular Acupuncture is given alongside daily exercises (moxibustion) for mum to perform at home. Research indicates that Acupuncture and moxibustion may be efficacious at turning baby to the optimal position (see articles listed above).

Regular Acupuncture in the three weeks prior to the estimated due date may help to assist in achieving a vaginal birth after C-section.
